Shimika Shonta Davis

ROCKFORD - Shimika Shonta Davis, age 42, of Rockford passed away Friday July 31, 2020. Born on June 10, 1978 to Charles Earl & Angela Davis (Johnson) in Chicago. She attended Chicago Public Schools until they relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan. She also was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hebert Johnson Jr.

Shimika had a saying, if someone said that they are are misunderstood, Shimika's reply was "What's understood don't need to be explained." Shimika had a saying and words for everybody she came in contact with.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving mother, Angela (Kenneth) of Fountain, CO; her beautiful children, Jah'Kiya, Ve'ozsha, Jah'Shawn, Charles and Aiden; two beautiful grandchildren, Maurihana of Tampa, FL and Trayveon of Rockford, IL; loving sister, Toni of Rockford, IL; and brother Scott of Tucson, AZ; maternal grandparents, Ollie and Florise Johnson of Rockford, IL; paternal grandfather; Samuel Payton of Chicago, IL and a bout of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shimika's daughter, Sharnicca preceded her in death; along with her father, Charles; and grandmother, Sadie. She also had a special father who preceded her in death, Frank Rose.

Services are Private.  Cremation rites accorded.  Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
