Shirley E. Johnson

ROCKFORD- Shirley E. Johnson, age 94, of Rockford passed away peacefully Monday May 4, 2020. Born in Rockford on July 26, 1925 to Edwin & Ethel Squier (Turngren). Graduate of East High School, she was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, square dancing and spending time talking with her friends. Shirley worked for many years as an administrative professional at Sunstrand. Loving and kind with a quick wit and full of spunk, she was proud of her Swedish heritage and took delight in little jobs. Beloved sister, aunt and friend; she will remain forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her nieces & nephews; Kristy Straka, Sherri Wilson, Becky Squier, Jennifer Jaenicke, Steven Squier and Ashley Squier; grand nieces & nephews, Benjamin, Shayla, Alex, Audrey, Nolan, Hannah, Camden and Josie Naikoi; and brother-in-law, Dick Phillips.

She is predeceased by her husband, Marshall Johnson; brother, Gary M. Squier; sister, Marilyn Phillips; and her parents.

Services are Private. Memorial arrangements to be announced. Interment at Arlington Cemetery. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice, 4751 Harrison Ave., Rockford, IL 61108.
