Steven Lynn Matczak

ROCKFORD - Steven "Steve" Lynn Matczak, age 69, of Rockford passed away peacefully Thursday, September 4, 2025. Born in Rockford on May 23, 1956 to Joseph & Frances Matczak (Ehnen). He married Cheryl Griswold on April 30, 1985. Steve will be remembered for his humor and his ability to put a smile on anyone's face. His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren and daughter, visiting the Byron Dragway (if it was loud and fast he was at his happiest), going out to eat for breakfast and enjoying his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara (Jay) Rubendall; grandchildren, Heidi, Kai and Finn; and brother, Lee Matczak. He is predeceased by his wife, Cheryl; and his parents.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 12:00 noon – 3:00 pm at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
