Wayne Melvin Lamont

ROCKFORD – Wayne Melvin LaMont, age 75, of Rockford passed away peacefully on Sunday April 29, 2018. Born in Rockford on December 25, 1942 to Marvin & Marie LaMont (Ippen). He married Judy Elaine Schmacher on June 20, 1981. A proud Veteran of the United States Navy, Wayne worked at Amerock until his retirement in early 2000's. Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend; he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by children, Kathy (late Greg) Owen, Michele Scott, Charles (Mona) Brents Jr., Wayne LaMont Jr., Michael Hafferty; grandchildren, Dakota, Patrick & Myrissa Owen, Tonya (Eric) Nicholson, James Scott II, Tressa & Jessica Hafferty; great-grandchildren, Alexia, Tre'Marion & Kameron; siblings, Janet (Lyle) Schryver, Dawn (Paul) Newman and Warren (Jeannie) LaMont; brother -in-law, Gary Schumacher; special friends, Scott & Cheryl Boeke; and many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Judy LaMont; siblings, Vernon & Lynn LaMont, Bev Meinert and Barb Remmers and son-in-law, Greg Owen.

Funeral Services held on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Avenue, Rockford, IL, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Burial at Willwood Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
