William Harry Welch

ROCKFORD - William Harry Welch, age 73, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully Friday October 23, 2020. Born in Milwaukee, WI on December 17, 1946 to Harry & Haddy Welch (Schmitt). Prior to retirement, William worked as a private forensic psychologist. Outside work, he was a voracious reader and a frequent connoisseur of fine wine. Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Merita Welch (Zaphel); children, Chad (Whitney) Welch, Mike (Kim) Zaphel, Michelle Zaphel, Melissa Zaphel, "Pepe" Jose Antonio Rosillo Diaz and Ron Correnti; siblings, Robert Welch, George Welch and Rebecca Larson; grandchildren, Nicolette Welch, Leah Welch, Colton Welch, Megan Zaphel, Matthew Zaphel and Christy Correnti; and many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Harry & Haddy Welch.

Graveside Committal with Military Funeral Honors held Friday November 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, 6202 Charles Street, Rockford. Cremation rites accorded.
