Xavier Smith

SOUTH BELOIT – Xavier Smith, age 37, of South Beloit and formerly of the Rockford area passed away peacefully on Monday December 4, 2017. Born in Gary, IN on February 6, 1980 to Benjamin Bey & Karen Ketthavong (Smith). Optimistic, cheerful & enthusiastic, are just a few of Xavier's finest qualities. He never had a bad attitude and always found the good in others. A true Chicago sports fan, he loved all Chicago teams; but truly enjoyed rooting and watching Chicago Bears football. Athletic & competitive, he loved participating in the Special Olympics and holds multiple gold medals in numerous events. In his free time Xavier enjoyed the company of his roommates, collecting super-hero memorabilia and attending Comic-Con. Beloved son and dearest friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Ketthavong; father, Benjamin Bey; brother, Terrance (LaToya) Bey; grandmother, David (Marjorie) Smith; aunts & uncles, Eleanor (late Zach) Collins, Eleanor (Hollis) Taylor, Wanner (Thommy Lee) Smith-Spann, David (Carla) Smith, Robert (Carolyn) Smith, Hugh Smith, Alpha Smith, Paul "Sonny" (Bobo) Bey and Maggie "Candy" Bey; cousins, Ramone (Crystal) Smith, Marjorie Morgan, Somsanith Smith, Gregory Shepherd, Christopher Rice, Hollis Taylor and Derrick Earls; roommates & best friends, Steven Wang, Gregory Schmidt and Thomas Merryman; beloved family & friends at Goldie B. Floberg Center; a host of nieces & nephews and countless dear friends. He is predeceased by his brothers, Derrick Bey and Vineng Smith; grandparents, Maggie Bey and Hugh Conner (LD) Earls; aunts, Aggie Bey, Stella Bey and Willie Mae Smith.

Funeral Services to be held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave, Rockford , with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
